How Bridgewell works
Here's what to expect from your first visit.
The four-step process
- Complete a free intake questionnaire. Tell us about your health goals, current medications, and relevant history. This takes about five minutes and is completely confidential.
- A licensed clinician reviews your information. A board-certified physician or nurse practitioner reviews your intake and may follow up with questions before your visit.
- If clinically appropriate, you'll have a video or messaging visit. Not every condition requires a live video call — many routine concerns can be addressed through secure asynchronous messaging. Your clinician will determine the right format.
- Approved treatments ship to your door or to a local pharmacy. If a prescription is appropriate, we'll send it to the pharmacy of your choice or ship directly to your home, depending on the medication.
What we can't do
Telehealth is a powerful tool for routine care, but it has real limits. Here's what Bridgewell Health cannot do:
- We cannot prescribe controlled substances without an in-person exam. Federal law requires an in-person evaluation before controlled substances (such as stimulants or opioids) can be prescribed. We will never attempt to work around this requirement.
- We cannot serve patients outside states where our providers are licensed. Our clinicians hold state-specific licenses. If you live in a state where we are not yet licensed, we cannot provide care. Check our coverage map before signing up.
- We cannot replace emergency care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not use Bridgewell Health for emergencies.
Privacy and security
Bridgewell Health is fully compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Your health information is encrypted in transit and at rest, stored on HIPAA-eligible infrastructure, and never sold to third parties. Our providers are bound by the same confidentiality standards that apply in any clinical setting.
You may request a copy of your records at any time through your patient portal or by contacting our support team.
